Spiritual Gifts: Discovering Fruitful Ministry For Christ By Using Your Spiritual Gift

God has called ever believer into ministry for Him. In Gal.5:13 Paul says we are to serve one another in love. In Eph.4:11-12, Paul further says that in the local church the saints are to do the work of service, that is they are to minister to one another. But often a believer will ask, "How do I know how the Lord wants me to serve Him?" The answer lies in understanding your spiritual giftedness.

Spiritual gifts define our primary area of ministry in the body of Christ and in helping to fulfill the Great Commission. 1 Cor.12:12-24 tells us that the body of Christ is like a human body where the body is one in unity, but each member of the body of Christ has a different function (ministry area), like a human body some are eyes, some ears, some feet, etc. The context of 1 Cor. 12 is spiritual gifts.

Our function is determined by our spiritual gift(s). Our spiritual gift(s) is what makes us function as an "eye" or "ear." Rom.12:4-8 further supports this. We all have different functions in the body. But that difference is not primarily from our personalities or our talents, it is from the different spiritual gifts that we have been given and thus the different part God desires for us to play in His body.
